Unique FeaturesThe bow post varies by vessel. Earlier Varkalades were often constructed with straight, nearly vertical bow posts, although concave or curved bow posts also exist. The stern transom is supported by the stern post. Historically, the stern post was straight, with the rudder mounted behind the transom, similar to sharp-sterned vessels (Oxyprymna).

Recent advancements in rudder placement have raised the transom to a height exceeding half the total stern height. Previously, the transom height did not surpass half the stern's height.
The middle frame exhibits sharper curvature at its maximum point, and the tangent at deck height forms a sharper angle with the vertical axis compared to sharp-sterned vessels.
Many Varkalades featured embossed decorations on the abacus.
